Our History

The first McCaghey family flock was nine birds raised to sell for Christmas back in 1951  by the well known Granny Mc Caghey.

The McCaghey family has been involved in the poultry business since 1951and has a well-respected name in the industry for quality and reliability. Over the years three generations have carried the business from strength to strength resulting in today’s thriving company.

We have grown to become Ireland’s largest family owned Turkey processor and also “The Gold standard in Turkey Products”.


All Turkey Farms are fully Bord Bia Approved.

Today we employ a great team of staff who work carefully together to ensure freshness and quality in all our products and to develop innovative solutions and products for the health-conscious public.

Milestones for the company:

Enterprise Ireland Key Manager Grant

Project Description: A Key Manager has been co-funded in this company by the European Regional Development Fund and Enterprise Ireland under the Border, Midland and Western Regional Operational Programme 2014-2020.

Aims: To recruit a Key Manager who will bring skills into the company that are critical to future growth.

Results: The Key Manager commenced employment and is contributing to improvements in company productivity and to changes in output to meet defined market requirements.

R&D initiatives in this company are co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and Enterprise Ireland under the Border, Midland and Western Regional Operational Programme 2014-2020. Aims: To develop thre turkey products aimed at increasing R&D activity which will drive company development. Results: Three new turkey products were successfully developed. As a result, one new product was launched into a new market.

Capital initiatives in this company are co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and Enterprise Ireland under the Border, Midland and Western Regional Operational Programme 2014-2020. Aims: To purchase physical assets. Results: Increased productivity and competiveness was achieved as a result of this investment.
